Justin Riley attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for five years where he pursued a Bachelor of Music Education degree with an emphasis in instrumental music. There, he held as his mentors Scott Teeple and Dr. Charles Rochester Young. He also has completed the first in a series of intensive workshops offered by Marianne Ploger and Keith Hill at the Institute for Musical Perception in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a trombonist, Justin performed in nearly every ensemble offered at UW-Stevens Point including Pit Orchestra, Improvisation Ensemble and a New Orleans-style brass band. Justin has also been tutored by trombonists John Huntoon, Steve Weist, Micah Everett and Michael Mulcahy. He has written a number of original pieces for concert band, saxophone quartet, piano and percussion.
In addition to music, Justin has experience in video production and post production. He currently produces his own sketch-comedy show for WYOU--Madison's cable access station--and YouTube. He has produced videos for UW-SP's chapter of the Collegiate Music Educators' National Conference and, along with his co-producer Pat Aspinwall, will be appearing in "Mad City Chickens," an independent documentary produced by Tarazod Films, set to be released at the end of 2007.
