Katie Cummings graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2007 with a B.A. in Music (violin) and a minor in arts management. She grew up in Kansas and was home-schooled through high school. After moving to Wisconsin, she began studies with Carmen Wiest, and in college studied under Leanne League as well.
At Whitewater, Katie taught lessons for the UWW String Academy and coached chamber music camps for high school students. During past summers, she has worked as a concert manager at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan.
Katie performs with the Beloit-Janesville Symphony, as well as other area orchestras, and chamber music groups. Her areas of focus in teaching include practice techniques and ear training. She is a member of ASTA, the American String Teachers Association. When she’s not working or practicing, Katie enjoys exploring Madison, studying foreign cultures, and learning new things.
