A western New York native, Lyssandra recently graduated with her Bachelors of Music in Music Education with a double concentration in violin and voice from the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York. At Crane, she had the honor of studying violin with Mr. Ioan Harea, and voice with Dr. Michael Koon. She comes to Madison in 2007 to pursue Masters degrees in Vocal Performance and Ethnomusicology at the UW-Madison.
An experienced teacher, Lyssandra has been giving private violin and viola lessons for eight years and strives to provide her students with a well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience. She has taught a variety of students, ranging from age 5 to adult learners; all with diverse interests and needs.
Lyssandra is also an avid performer on both violin and voice, having participated in the Crane Symphony Orchestra, award-winning string quartets, pit orchestras, the Crane Concert Choir, Potsdam Community Chorus and the Crane Phoenix Club. In March 2007, Lyssandra was honored as a soprano soloist at the CNY NATS competition with first place distinction in her category. She is also looking forward to singing as a soloist for the Janesville-Beloit Symphony and for the Christ Presbyterian Church in Madison. Lyssandra has special interest in international music, and briefly studied Carnatic music in Chennai, India.
