Executive Director of Rhapsody Arts Center, Inc., Ms. Mickey Lytle* has taught early childhood music classes and private and group piano lessons since 1988. Prior to living in the Madison area, she served as accompanist for various vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles in the Department of Music at Oklahoma State University while maintaining a private piano studio. A past church music director, choir accompanist, and organist, she has also served as musical director and accompanist/pianist in numerous high school, collegiate, and community musical productions. A Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) in piano, she is also a certified NGPT ACM teacher.
A native of Nebraska, Ms. Lytle holds degrees in Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance, magna cum laude, from Hastings College. Mickey studied with Ruth Moore and was the recipient of the prestigious Presser Scholar, Elmer Christensen Keyboard Award, and Outstanding Contributor in Music. She is licensed in Kindermusik® and Harmony Road® early childhood music curriculums.
Mickey is an active member, past treasurer, and past newsletter editor of the Madison Area Piano Teachers Association (MAPTA), certified member teacher, adjudicator, and local chairperson of the National Guild of Piano Teachers (NGPT), member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Early Childhood Music and Movement Association (ECMMA), and Wisconsin Music Teachers Association (WTMA). Her students have received numerous musical honors including the Guild Paderewski Medal, Guild Sonatina Medal, Guild National and International Winners, MTNA Junior Auditions State Winners and Convention Recitalist, District and State competition trophy winners, and college scholarship recipients.
Ms. Lytle is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Verona, the Verona Area Chamber of Commerce, and is active in Verona Area Community Theater.
Mickey was the owner of Music By Mickey, Inc., the predecessor of Rhapsody Arts Center, Inc.
